The NFL Pro Bowl is coming soon for 2014 and after all the AFC and NFC selections for offensive and defensive players have been released inn a full list, it's time to look at some of the top names and this year it will be interesting, as the Honolulu game will be split by captains Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders rather than by conference.
The players were still picked and voted into the game by their teams and conference, but now the whole pool will be split up by the captains and the NFL is hoping that drums up some excitement for players and for fans. The teams will be split up four days before the Pro Bowl and the game will be going down in Hawaii during the week break for the Super Bowl and that will be on January 26 and the game will be at 7 pm ET from Honolulu and the teams should end up very interesting with the way the selections are being done this season, which was used in the NHL all-star game to great effect.
The players in the Super Bowl will miss out on the game in Hawaii, but this season there are plenty of players to pick from and at the quarterback position there are some usual names and some surprises, as Tom Brady and Peyton Manning headline the list with Drew Brees, Cam Newton, Russell Wilson and Philip Rivers and all those teams made the playoffs this season and are currently alive heading into the divisional round. The quarterback position will be a tough one to pick and they likely will have at least one or two players out of the pool after the Super Bowl is set.
Manning made it into the Pro Bowl for the 13th time in his career and he ended up getting the most votes from fans, while Drew Brees ended up second on the list and 85 of 87 Pro Bowl players were voted in by the fans, players and coaches apart from a couple spots that will be brought in by the coaches themselves and there will be replacements as well. Jamaal Charles will be looking to get picked onto a good team after his playoffs were cut short from a concussion and the Chiefs loss and now the Pro Bowl is just a few weeks away.
