Eli Manning finished 31st in the NFL's Top 100, which is a televised ranking of the top players as chosen by league members themselves.
The New York Giants QB has had a penchant for garnering a lack of respect, and despite the voting coming on the heels of his second Super Bowl victory/MVP nod in five years, he failed to break the top 30 players.
Obviously, Giants fans took exception to what they see as a slight. However, they were not alone. NFL Networks own analysts debated on air last night whether or not the ranking was accurate, especially in light of the fact that Ben Roethlisberger has yet to be named (the list is unveiled in descending order with 1 being the top spot).
Roethlisberger also has two Super Bowl rings but the voting is supposed to be based on the past season alone. Big Ben finished with 4,077 total passing yards for 21 TDs and 14 interceptions. Manning totaled 4,933 yards for 29 TDs but did lose the interception battle. He threw 16 picks, which is slightly offset by the fact that he attempted 76 more passes than Roethlisberger.
Fellow Giant, Victor Cruz, made an appearance on the list and was ranked 39th. Cruz was a pleasant surprise for the Giants, coming off the bench in Week 3 en route to a record breaking season.
