The NFL regular season is now long over and with the playoffs pushing into the championship round with the Seahawks taking on the Niners and the Patriots taking on the Denver Broncos, here is a look back at some of the best games from the 2013 season on the schedule, with the Broncos taking on the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears playing the Washington Redskins as well as the thriller between the Ravens and the Vikings.
The Broncos fittingly played in one of the highest scoring games of the season and it was one of the most exciting, as the team won 51-48 against the Dallas Cowboys early in the season after a field goal from Matt Prater. Peyton Manning and Tony Romo went head to head in the game and put up some crazy numbers, as Romo passed for over 500 yards for the first time in team history and had five touchdowns, while Manning ended up with 414 yards and four touchdowns in the matchup.
The game had over 1,000 yards of total offense and was the biggest shootout of the 2013 season and was also one of the best games to watch. Both sides went back and forth and the game kept the Broncos undefeated at the time and had them on a 16 game winning streak in the regular season and the scoring really went off in the second for the Broncos, as they put up 21 points in the quarter. Romo of course had a bad pick in the game at the end and is close to the record for points scored in a loss and the two teams passed for nearly 900 yards combined.
The Redskins and Bears game was anther shootout and the teams played it right until the end, with Washington winning 45-41 at home and the two teams had a great finish, scoring over 30 points in the final quarter. Roy Helu scored the winning touchdown and Robert Griffin had 298 yards passing and during the game Devin Hester scored a special teams touchdown and that really got things going and this win came without Jay Cutler for the most part after he was injured. Helu scored three touchdowns and Hester tied a record with an 81-yard score on a punt and this was easily one of the most fun games to watch all season.
The Vikings and Ravens in Baltimore was amazing if only for the finish, as the two teams went back and forth over the final two minutes, 125 seconds to be exact. 42 points combined came in the fourth quarter and the Ravens won 29-26 in a game that literally went back and forth, as the Ravens scored with a play by Dennis Pitta, after which the Vikings got a 40 yard run from Toby Gerhart to take the lead back and then Jacoby Jones took the kickoff to score and get the lead back for the Ravens. Then Matt Cassel hit Cordarrelle Patterson with 45 seconds left for another score, which set up the five-play, 80-yard drive to set up the final score for the Ravens. Wow, what a game.
