The Super Bowl for 2014 odds and point spread has the Denver Broncos in as the early favorite over the Seattle Seahawks for the early bets in the SB at MetLife Stadium in the NFL championship game and heading into the stretch that could change depending on the weather and how injuries start to shape each team into the game.
The Broncos are the top offense in the league and Peyton Manning is now in his third Super Bowl with the chance to be the first quarterback to win championships starting at QB for two different teams. He is one reason the Broncos are favored, as their offense is high powered and he tossed for over 5,300 yards this season and 55 touchdowns to set both season records and while the Seahawks have an amazing defense, it may not be enough to shut down Manning and the Broncos.
The Seahawks come into the game with the top rated defense and passing defense in the league and the number one offense will meet tis match with the Seattle defense, which ranked first in yards allowed in the air per game and seventh in rushing yards allowed. The defense has been transformed over the past few years under Pete Carroll and Dan Quinn, as John Schneider has been excellent at drafting and signing players that fit what Carroll wants to do.
The defense has been so effective this season because Carroll puts his players in the position where they will be at their best despite numbers, which is something that the team did not do under former coordinator Gus Bradley, as they fit the player to the scheme and not the scheme to the player. Now the Seahawks have a hybrid form of this, as Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett are able to get pressure on the quarterback, while the cornerbacks are big like Richard Sherman, which is what Carroll likes and with Earl Thomas in the secondary as well, it should be a great battle between the Broncos offense and the Legion of Boom from Seattle.
The Broncos are looking to fully erase the memories from last season when they lost to the Baltimore Ravens in the playoffs and now they are in the Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks as Manning looks for his second championship.
