Manchester United are set to buy another player from Borussia Dortmund after Shinji Kagawa, according to the Polish team coach.
Franciszek Smuda told Reuters, he expects Robert Lewandowski to follow Kagawa to the Red half of Manchester. The coach also said other Polish stars Lukasz Piszczek and captain Jakub Blaszczykowski were leaving Dortmund. "In my opinion, in a moment they will be gone from Borussia (Dortmund)," Smuda said.
"Lewy is going to Manchester United, Kuba also somewhere in England, Piszczek to Real (Madrid). They have a goal and they want to grow. I base the squad on them."
Manchester United are moving fast in the transfer market and have reportedly also captured Luka Modric, according to The Sun.
Modric has long been linked with a move to the Red Devils, with Sir Alex Ferguson a big admirer of the playmaker's talents. Chelsea were understood to be the frontrunners for Modric, having had a big bid turned down last year by Tottenham Hotspur.
With Spurs missing out on Champions League qualification for next season, it was inevitable the likes of Modric and Gareth Bale would want to move.
The Sun reports United have agreed a $38.5 million deal with Tottenham, rising to $46 million based on success and appearances. The Croatian midfielder, who is preparing for Euro 2012, has been reportedly been kept in the loop of all developments and will sign a four-year contract worth nearly $200,000 a week, after returning from the European championships. The salary will make him one of the highest earners in the United squad.
There have been doubts about United's competitiveness in the transfer market after failing to sign Eden Hazard, however, if Modric signs, it will be a major boost to United's financial prowess.
United have also agreed a $4.6 million fee for Chilean youngster Angelo Henriquez. The 18-year-old Universidad de Chile striker has been receiving rave reviews and was scouted by some of the biggest clubs in the world. United have stolen a march on them by sealing the striker's signature. Henriquez scored 8 goals in 10 appearances for Universidad last season.
United will probably apply for a "special talent" visa, but if the striker, who is yet to make a senior appearance for Chile's national side, is not granted a work permit, the Manchester club will have to send him out on loan.
Meanwhile, Ferguson is still refusing to match the $30 million valuation for Newcastle defensive midfielder Cheick Tiote. The Ivorian impressed several premier league teams with his performances for Newcastle in the center of midfield last season. Ferguson is looking at providing more competition for Michael Carrick, with Darren Fletcher still out indefinitely due to ulcerative colitis.
