The Seattle Seahawks playoffs schedule starts up on FOX at 6:30 pm ET for the Super Bowl against the Denver Broncos and this time around the championship game has the two best teams in the league on TV after each went 13-3 on the season and now they will meet at MetLife Stadium for SB XLVIII for the 48th championship matchup.
Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson are going at it and it comes a year after Wilson tied his record for rookie TD passes and in 2013 Manning set the record for passing yards and touchdowns in a season with over 5,400 yards and 55 scores and he just won MVP as well. Wilson has some connections to Manning, including the fact that he attended a Manning Passing Academy and he nearly was drafted by the Broncos and could have served as a backup for Manning. Wilson comes in with an impressive record over his first two seasons and he has lost just one home game and now he comes into the Super Bowl in just his second season in the league and he joins just five other QBs as players that have done that before, including Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger.
Manning is looking to win his second championship while the Seahawks are looking to win their first and with the Sonics gone and the Mariners in a dark hole, this is the best chance Seattle has for a title. The team comes in with the number one ranked defense in the league and they are matching up with the best offense in the Broncos and the last time that happened was back in 1990 when the Giants defeated the Buffalo Bills and that is one reason why many think the Seahawks can win it. The secondary was the top rated unit in the league by passing yards allowed per game and now they go up against the offense that gained the most yards and the Seattle LOB is led by Richard Sherman and he will be the main cornerback to watch.
The two quarterbacks come into the game with the biggest gap between their ages of all-time and Manning is looking to cap off his career with a second championship and the Seahawks are looking for their first. The Seahawks allowed the least amount of points in the league on defense this season and that is the 16th time it has happened before and the teams overall only have lost three times and that is why many see Seattle as an upset option. The Broncos come into the game as a favorite, but the odds are very close and so is the point spread and Marshawn Lynch could be a huge factor, as he has had over 100 yards in four of his six career playoff games and this season he went for over 1,200 yards for Wilson and the Hawks.
The Seahawks come into the game at 13-3 on the season and number one in the NFL and the matchup against the Denver Broncos comes from MetLife Stadium at 6:30 pm ET from FOX and Joe Buck and Troy Aikman will be broadcasting the game on TV. The Seahawks ranked fourth in the league in rushing yards per game and first in passing yards allowed and they also had a top 10 rushing defense this season.
