NFL Playoff Standings: Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl Champions Over Denver Broncos

The final NFL playoffs standings for 2014 has the Seattle Seahawks as Super Bowl champions over the Denver Broncos and they won SB XLVIII at MetLife Stadium by the score of 43-8 and the team was dominant throughout the contest and started off with a safety on the first play of the game before Russell Wilson led the way to victory and Malcolm Smith was named MVP of the matchup.

The Seahawks had pressure on Manning all game and after the safety started things off the team continued to score and keep the Broncos off their game and that culminated with the interception from Smith for a touchdown and they did not turn the ball over once in the game and forced four turnovers, including a critical fumble from Demaryius Thomas. Manning had two interceptions and passed for under 300 yards after barely doing that all season and Demaryius Thomas set a record with 13 catches and ended up with 188 yards and the lone touchdown for Denver in the game.

Manning did not win his second championship to become the first QB to win titles with two different teams, while Wilson became the fourth quarterback to win the Super Bowl in his first or second year in the NFL. Wilson joins Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger and Kurt Warner as the only QBs to win the Super Bowl in their first two years in the league and Wilson just missed out on winning MVP after Malcolm Smith returned an interception for a touchdown and also recovered a fumble.

Percy Harvin showed why he is such a valuable weapon with over 40 yards rushing and a kickoff return for a touchdown and his trade from the offseason paid off big time and now Pete Carroll has an NCAA and NFL title to his name and Wilson puts himself in prime position to be one of the all-time greats. Manning had one of the best seasons of all-time with 5,400 yards and 55 touchdowns, but he did not get the chance to do anything in the Super Bowl, as the Seahawks bottled up the Broncos all night and kept them from making any big plays consistently.

The Seahawks went up 36-0 after a pass from Wilson to Jermaine Kearse and Richard Sherman had to leave the game for Seattle and now he could be out for a bit and this game set the Denver Broncos to 2-5 in their Super Bowl games and this is the first championship for the Hawks. The city of Seattle has not had a title since the Sonics won and now they have the Lombardi Trophy heading to the Pacific Northwest and they are a team that is expected to be hanging around for a while with all their young talent. Wilson is just in his second year, while Sherman, Earl Thomas, Doug Baldwin, Kearse and Kam Chancellor are all relatively young. The NFC takes back the Lombardi Trophy from the Ravens after Baltimore won over the 49ers last season and before that was the New York Giants, making the NFC winners in two of the last three games.
