With Poland manager Franciszek Smuda confirming Robert Lewandowski's imminent move to Manchester United, it is sure to be another exciting addition for the Red-half of Manchester.
Lewandowski is coming off his best season with Borussia Dortmund, scoring 20 goals and helping Dortmund retain their title.
Sir Alex Ferguson was there in the stands, when Lewandowski netted a hat-trick against Bayern Munich in the German Cup final. The best two players on the pitch that day was Shinji Kagawa, who is on the verge of a move to United, and Lewandowski.
If the Poland manager's claims are true, The Red Devils will have the perfect striker to complement Wayne Rooney.
Rooney is at his best, when playing just behind the striker. The England forward likes to drop deep or slide towards the right in search of the ball. Rooney has a tendency to get frustrated when he does not see enough of the ball, making him perfect in the second striker's role. Lewandowski's addition will give the chance for Ferguson to start with two quality strikers who can both score over 20 goals in a season.
Apart from Rooney, last season, neither Danny Welbeck nor Javier Hernandez scored enough goals, with Dimitar Berbatov barely used.
Bringing in Lewandowski can free up the English striker and let him take over the creative mantle, something he will share with Kagawa. Kagawa has a very good understanding with his Dortmund team-mate and with Paul Scholes pulling the strings from a little deeper, United have the perfect quartet to play through the middle.
So, if United do sign Lewandowski, expect Rooney and the 23-year-old Polish striker to forge one of the best partnerships in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, United have also wrapped up the signing of Crewe youngster Nick Powell, according to the Daily Mail. Arsenal and Liverpool were also understood to be keen on the 18-year-old who made a name for himself with a fantastic strike against Cheltenham in the League Two Playoff final.
United have reportedly agreed a $6.2 million for the teenager, with $3.1 million upfront. United will loan him back to Crewe, to ensure Powell gets first-team opportunities.
The Daily Mail also reports Tottenham want $54 million for Luka Modric. The Sun had reported United had already agreed a deal worth $38.5 million, rising to $46 million on Friday. However, it looks like there is still some more way to go, before an agreement is made.
