Yankees vs. Mets: Bronx Bombers Blast Three HRs in a Row of Santana, Game 2 Tonight

Jun 09, 2012 03:21 PM EDT

It has been a refreshing change of pace for Mets fans, not seeing their hopes for a new season dashed before the summer months roll around.  For the first time in years, the Mets headed into the Subway Series as the expected victors.  Beating the Yankees would be the perfect cap to a euphoric week.  But it was the Yankees that walked away on top with a 9-1 triumph.

Johan Santana's no hitter, the crowning jewel of the Mets success thus far in 2012, was a far cry from the display last night.  Only days after his historic achievement, Santana found himself giving up three back-to-back-to back home runs to the crosstown rival Yankees.

Yankees pitcher, Hiroki Kuroda, was more than halfway to his own no hitter, but gave up his first hit of the night in the sixth inning.  His successful night on the mound was supported by the bats of Robinson Canoe, Nick Swisher , and Andruw Jones.

Tonight, both New York teams will face off for Game 2 at Yankee Stadium on Fox.  The game starts at 7:15.
