The Pebble Beach National Pro-Am PGA Tour event starts up live on Thursday and the tournament will have a stream online as Phil Mickelson plays at the course where he has won numerous times and he tees off at 12:50 PM and is among a number of big names at the AT&T event in California, as Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Bill Belichick and Alex Smith are all participating as well.
Tiger Woods has not been off to the best start this season and he set his worst performance mark through two tournaments with his work at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, a place where he usually kills, and at the Dubai Desert Classic and now he is getting ready for his next tourney and he will not be at the Pro-Am in California. The field has Phil Mickelson as the favorite and that is because of his past success at the course, winning four times at Pebble Beach and he could be poised for a fifth win after having to drop out of the Farmers with a back injury.
Mickelson was able to last longer at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, which he won last year, but he finished at number 42 on the leaderboard and now he will try and get things back on track on Thursday, as the first round starts from California. Mickelson was able to finish with an even par round on Sunday to finish things off and he is hoping to take that into Pebble Beach, where he finished 60th last season and that came after an 8-under 64 in the 2012 tournament that saw him take the title after winning over Charlie Wi. Mickelson said he loves the layout of the course and that he feels comfortable there and he has finished in the top 10 at the course eight times, although he has missed three cuts as well. Mickelson's next tournament following the event is the Honda Classic and that will be at the end of the month, meaning Lefty will be looking to get a positive performance, even if he doesn't finish at the top of the leaderboard.
Ray Romano, Kenny G and sports aficionado Condoleezza Rice are all at the event as well and the Gold Channel has TV coverage in the afternoon and that will start up at 3 pm. The website also features the Live Extra coverage of the tournament and it will also be streaming on the radio from Sirius XM. Woods was playing a charity event in India this week and he ended up putting in 10 birdies despite losing a skins challenge and now he will be looking to get back on track for his next tournament. Graeme McDowell and Jim Furyk have the early lead at the tournament and a number of players will be teeing off over the next hour. Click here for the leaderboard.
