The NBA Dunk contest for 2014 has the All-Star game slam roster set and while LeBron James will not be participating, Has Paul George, Damian Lillard, John Wall, Terrence Ross, Harrison Barnes and Ben McLemore make up the field and it is a group of young and upcoming stars in the league when the contest hits New Orleans later in February.
The dunk contest is often the most popular of the events coming All-Star weekend apart from the game and while a number of big names have spurned the contest in recent years, including James, Dwight Howard and Kevin Durant, this year some great athletes will be on display. Terrence Ross comes in after having one of the best dunks of the year on Kenneth Faried and he could be one of the favorites.
Lillard is fast becoming one of the best young point guards in the league and he comes in after getting an All-Star nod, while George also will be playing in the main game. Wall and McLemore are young stars and so is Barnes and they all will bring some much needed flair to the event.
While no huge names will be there, this could be a great showcase for the league, as each of these players has shown some flashes this season and of course George is a superstar in the making already. The Dunk lineup will be announced formally on TNT on Thursday and the event goes down the weekend of the All-Star game, which will be played February 16.
