Any team looking to avoid a losing streak should play the New York Knicks at home. The team is one of the worst in the league on home court, sitting at 11-17 at Madison Square Garden. The Denver Nuggets are hoping to avoid a letdown while riding a four-game road trip into the All-Star break.
The Nuggets have been inconsistent lately. The team is in a 10-7 stretch that saw them beating the Indiana Pacers and Los Angeles Clippers, but losing to some of the worst like the Philadelphia 76ers and Utah Jazz. Head coach Brian Shaw is concerned over energy and is hoping to get a solid road win against the Knicks on Friday.
New York is likely one more loss away from firing head coach Mike Woodson. The team followed a four-game winning streak with a three-game losing streak. In their loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, the team went 4 for 21 from beyond the arc while averaging just 93.0 points during their losing streak.
Carmelo Anthony is the only one being a solid presence. The star is putting up 29.3 points per game, while shooting 40.5 percent from beyond the arc. He has had plenty of recent success over his former team, putting up 34 points in the team's win back in December. JR Smith also plays well against his former team, putting up 21.8 points in that game.
The only former Knicks player on the Nuggets roster is Wilson Chandler who is returning to the Garden for the first time since being involved in the three-team trade that sent Anthony and Smith to New York. He admits that playing well in this game is very important to him.
