Feb 09, 2014 12:51 PM EST

The New York Knicks are playing the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday on the NBA schedule and the game on ABC starts up at 1 pm ET and comes from Chesapeake Energy Arena and has Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant as two of the best scorers in the league going at it and it comes after the Knicks won against the Nuggets at MSG on Friday.

The Knicks are now 10 games under .500 and they have been playing better as of late and while they are still struggling for position in the east, they have a chance to make the playoffs since the conference is so bad and they will have a stiff test on Sunday afternoon against the Thunder. The team won over the Nuggets by a wide margin after 31 points from Carmelo Anthony and 11 rebounds from Jeremy Tyler and now they have to find a way to stop Kevin Durant. The team plays against the Sacramento Kings next on Wednesday and as it gets closer to the trade deadline, teams may be more willing to make moves.

The team comes into the game ranked in the top 10 in scoring defense with 98 points allowed per game, but they are ranked 22nd in the league in scoring with 97 points and 27th in rebounding and they will have to try and keep things going against the Thunder. Melo is averaging 27.4 points this season and he will be the main counter to Durant, who is averaging over 30 points per game this season.

The Thunder come into the game first in the northwest division and the team just lost a thriller to the Orlando Magic and after playing the Knicks they will be on the road against the Portland Trail Blazers and that will be a nice matchup of two of the best teams in the league and could be a preview of the playoffs this year. The team is ranked in the top 10 in a number of categories this season and they are ranked sixth in scoring with 104 points per game and seventh in defense with 97 points per game allowed and the team is also fourth in the league in rebounds per game with 45 per contest. The two teams are going to be looking to win on Sunday and the Thunder hope to end any chance of a losing streak.
