The NFL offseason schedule is now in full swing after the Seattle Seahawks won the Super Bowl over the Denver Broncos and with the league year beginning in March, there is still plenty to keep an eye on in February, including the NFL combine in Indianapolis from Lucas Oil Stadium and whether teams start to cut veteran players to get under the salary cap.
This offseason names like Chris Johnson, Antrel Rolle and Julius Peppers could be on the chopping block and if they are, they should be in high demand. The combine has received more and more coverage over the years and this season will be no different with plenty of intrigue at the top of the draft with the Houston Texans holding the first pick. The draft isn't until May this year due to scheduling and with the combine at the end of February and individual workouts still to come for names like Johnny Manziel, Blake Bortles, Teddy Bridgewater and Jadeveon Clowney, the media should be going crazy over where those players could go.
The draft is late this year so it will be able to be held at Radio City and before that on the schedule is the start of the league year in March as well as the owners meeting. The combine is the next big event and that is from February 19 to the 25 and that gives teams the chance to speak with players and see in-depth workouts. March 11 is the start of free agency and the new league year and teams must be under the salary cap heading into that period and that means a number of teams will be shedding players.
Heading into the end of March is the owners meeting in Orlando and then in early April, some teams can start having offseason workouts, including ones that hired a new head coach at the end of the season. Two weeks later other teams can start and then on May 2 is the deadline for restricted free agents to accept offer sheets that have been extended to them. Training camps start in the summer.
