The Boston Celtics have been one of the most involved teams when it comes to trade rumors this season and heading into the deadline, the Atlanta Hawks have shown interest in Jeff Green and some other names that could move includes Rajon Rondo, Kris Humphries, Brandon Bass, Avery Bradley and Gerald Wallace.
New reports from the Daily News have the Hawks as the top team interested in Green and this comes after the Celtics have been shopping him in various trade talks. The deal with the Houston Rockets that almost went down for Omer Asik may have involved Green back in December, while now the report says that DeMarre Carroll would have to be involved in any trade that goes down at the deadline. Carroll has been averaging about 10 points per game this season and it is likely that draft picks would be involved in any deal between these two teams.
The Celtics are in rebuilding mode and while Danny Ainge has said that Rondo isn't going anywhere, that could change of the right deal comes along. The team wants to shed salary and moving names like Green and Humphries could do that and so could Bass and Wallace, but it might be harder to move those names.
Carroll will be making $2.4 million next season and Green has $9.2 million on his deal and he has a player option on his contract after next year and his deal goes through the 2016 season. The Celtics started off the season in surprising fashion, but they have slipped back into the bottom of the east now and this could be the start of their dealing at the deadline. Don't expect Rondo to move though, as he can be the centerpiece of their next rebuild and both Brad Stevens and Ainge want him there for the long haul.
