NY Knicks Rumors: Carmelo Anthony Not Recruiting Free Agents During All-Star Weekend, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade Support Silence on 2014 Offseason Plans

Carmelo Anthony is well-aware his pending future is going to be a hot topic during the upcoming NBA All-Star game. As the league's biggest stars descend upon New Orleans, it will give players a chance to mix and mingle while likely discussing future moves. With Anthony being one of the more sought after players this offseason, many are going to be asking what he plans on doing in free agent. However, Anthony has no plans of answering.

According to Anthony, players do not have time to discuss free agency during the All-Star weekend. He told the New York Post that he and the others will go about their normal All-Star duties and will not engage in free agency discussions.

"I think All-Star weekend is just a time where you can relax, decompress, kind of reflect on the first half of the season and gear up for the second half of the season," Anthony said. "As far as recruiting and things like that, that never happens. A lot of guys - especially the people I call friends, the people I talk to - it's more making sure I'm all right, making sure I'm keeping my head up, making sure I'm staying positive. It's not, 'Whatcha gonna do?' or 'You should do this or you should do that.' It's more just being there during this time."

Of course that will not stop the media from prying into his thought process. With the Knicks season struggling at 20-31, sitting two spots out of playoff contention, it is assumed Anthony will jump ship at the end of the year. Almost every team will take a glance at him. The Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Clippers have deemed themselves the frontrunners to land the top shooter in 2014, but Anthony is not speaking about it, instead just focusing on keeping a positive attitude throughout the season. LeBron James and Dwyane Wade certainly support the silent approach, noting the guard should keep things to himself.

"Without a doubt," Anthony said. "My head is always up. I always remain confident and remain positive. And I've got to do that for my teammates and make sure they see that and hopefully they can feed off that."

So while Anthony may not be doing any discussion regarding free agency in the upcoming weekend, New York fans would certainly love if he convinced a few stars to sign up with the Knicks for the next few years. If Anthony stays, others may follow. Anthony is not about to hint at any decision until the official offseason, keeping everyone on the edge of their seats.
