Syracuse avoided a scare against Pittsburgh when Tyler Ennis hit a buzzer-beating 3-point shot to earn the win and keep the perfect record intact. The Orange sit as the best team in the nation with a 24-0 record after the hard-fought win against the Panthers. Now the team returns home for a matchup against North Carolina State before hitting the road once again to face Duke.
Syracuse is looking strong in the first season in the ACC. The team is hoping to become the first to undefeated since Indiana accomplished the feat in 1975. Ennis certainly helped keep the dream alive when he took an inbound pass with 4.4 seconds left and drilled a 35-foot shot. Prior to the shot, Syracuse had erased a nine-point deficit against the ranked Pittsburgh team.
Syracuse will be smart to not overlook the Wolfpack who are 6-5 in conference play. Right now, Syracuse is outscoring opponents by an average of 18.1 points per game. Defensively, they are only giving up 58.3 points to opponents , ranking them seventh in the nation and second in the ACC. In the past seven games, the Orange has forced to shoot 38.3 percent overall which could be an issue for North Carolina State.
The Wolfpack are a sharp-shooting team. The team is averaging 74.8 points per game on 48.4 percent shooting. However, on the road they are putting up just 65.3 points and 40.9 percent shooting. TJ Warren is leading the team with 23.1 points per game, ranking him eighth in the nation overall. NC State did win their most recent matchup against a ranked opponent when they beat Duke in January.
