NY Giants Rumors: Hakeem Nicks and Linval Joseph Top Free Agents As Mike Evans, Sammy Watkins, Marqise Lee Draft Options At WR?

The New York Giants are heading into 2014 with a new offensive outlook with Ben McAdoo coming in and after a terrible year on the o-line, the team will be rebuilding that and another primary concern is wide receiver Hakeem Nicks and with that in mind, the team could go after that in free agency or the draft with names like Mike Evans, Sammy Watkins, Marqise Lee, Anquan Boldin or James Jones.

The Giants signed Victor Cruz to an extension last year and that was a big move for the team and now they need to try and lock up Nicks or let him leave in free agency. According to ESPN.com writer Dan Graziano, Joseph is the highest priority free agent for the Giabts, as he has developed into a great interor lineman and the team needs him going forward on defense. Nicks is extremely important as well, but if he demands too much from a contract it could turn into Cruz 2.0 and then he could end up leaving.

Nicks will not be without suitors and even though he did not score a touchdown last season, he showed during the first few years of his career that he has massive big play ability. During the Super Bowl season he was an integral part of the offense and both Eli Manning and Cruz suffered when Nicks was injured or not effective on the field.

Joseph and Nicks are top priorities and depending on what happens, the Giants could go for a wide receiver in the draft, as names like Lee, Watkins and Evans could be available when they pick in the first round. The team has a new offense with Ben McAdoo running things and that would be a good way to start things off.

The offensive line is a big concern and the team may be starting from scratch in some places, as overall it was a mess last season. Chris Snee and David Bass are probably done next year and with Will Beatty suffering and injury they will have to decide what to bring in alongside Justin Pugh, as David Diehl is also gone after retiring. The team could try and sign Joseph before he hits the market and that would mean the team could focus on just signing Nicks.
