As the NFL offseason approaches, it is seeming less and less likely that Terrelle Pryor will be with the Oakland Raiders come training camp. While Pryor's future seemed bright at the start of 2013, a knee injury derailed his progress, leaving Matt McGloin to step up and excel in his absence. Realizing that Pryor could be worth something in a trade, the Raiders are fielding offers for the quarterback.
According to Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times, the Raiders are willing to trade Pryor come the official offseason and are listening to offers from other teams. This rumor has been speculating since the Raiders' 2013 season ended. General manager Reggie McKenzie has been requesting for more consistent play from the quarterback position and noted that the team would explore all options before the 2014 season.
Pryor won the starting job in 2013, but was unable to be a consistent threat and leader each week. HE played in 11 games, throwing 1,798 yards while putting up seven touchdowns. He also ran for 576 yards and two touchdowns. While the Raiders loved his ability to think on his feet and open up the offense, his arm issues were too much to overcome.
What exactly could the Raiders get in return for Pryor? If Raiders fans are true, likely a loaf of bread. However, several NFL scouts believe Pryor's talents are being undervalued and he could really help any team willing to stay committed to him.
"People have underestimated him," one NFL scout told NFL columnist Dan Pompei of Bleacher Report in the days following that game. "His skills are coming together and he is showing command. He's playing with more confidence and throwing accurately."
So far there hves not been any confirmed teams interested in Pryor, but ESPN's Paul Gutierrez notes the team could attempt to orchestrate a trade for Washington Redskin's quarterback Kirk Cousins. He believes the Raiders will target a pure pocket passer, someone that fits the skills of McGloin, a quarterback they appear committed to for at least a training camp competition. However, Washington will not agree to a simple player swap when it comes to Cousins. They want draft picks and the Raiders cannot afford to give those up.
With the Washington trade unlikely to happen, several other teams might consider Pryor. Anyone who misses out on Johnny Manziel or Blake Bortles could target the quarterback. Teams like the Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars and the Buffalo Bills remain options.
