Syracuse has the biggest target on their back as the Orange make their way through the final weeks of the season. The team is currently 25-0 after completing back-to-back last-second victories to remain perfect on the season. Head coach Jim Boeheim is aware the team is on a historic streak as they return home to face the struggling Boston College Eagles.
The Orange have a big matchup with Duke waiting in the shadows, but first they must beware not to overlook the Eagles no matter what their record is. After two close wins, Syracuse is looking for a blowout victory. Tyler Ennis had to sink a 35-foot shot to beat Pittsburgh. CJ Fair put up a layup with six seconds left to get a win against North Carolina State over the weekend.
Syracuse struggled against North Carolina State, shooting just 35.2 percent from the floor. Ennis, Fair and Tyler Cooney combined for just 28 points despite being three of the nation's top scorers. Syracuse normally averages at least 70 points per game and 45.4 percent shooting, but only managed 56 in the win. They have not put up those numbers in their last six of seven games, possibly feeling the pressure of being undefeated on the season.
The Orange will enjoy this home game because the team will play their final four of five games on the road, starting with Duke on Saturday. The team barely edged the Blue Devils in their first meeting at home and will need to be playing their best to beat them again. If they defeat Duke, Syracuse is setting themselves up to be the first team to go undefeated in the regular season since Indiana in 1975.
Boston College will try and be a challenge, but the team has dropped five straight games. Their defense is giving up 78.7 points on 53.7 percent shooting in their last three games. They have lost nine of 10 road games this year, finding a hard time generating offense.
Syracuse has not lost to an unranked team at home since 2011. They have no intentions of starting now.
