The NBA trade rumor mill is spinning and the deadline is tomorrow and players like Kevin Love, Arron Afflalo, Pau Gasol, Jeff Teague, Gordon Hayward, Greg Monroe, Iman Shumpert and Evan Turner are getting attention heading into the final night and teams like the New York Knicks, Phoenix Suns and Brooklyn Nets could make moves.
Kevin Love has been coming up in trade rumors since he signed his extension with the Wolves and while some reports came out that the LA Lakers and Dallas Mavericks would be looking to deal for him, it's almost a guarantee that he will not get moved at the deadline. Love has said that he hopes the Wolves can get better this season and that he won't speculate on any trades and sources say that Flip Saunders will NOT do this deal no matter what.
Pau Gasol comes in after getting tons of attention in trade reports and after he nearly went to the Cavaliers earlier in the season, many saw the Phoenix Suns as a potential option. The Suns and Lakers were close on a deal before last week, but after Gasol went down with an injury, they backed off and now it appears that it will not be going down. The Suns may make another deal, but it likely will not be for Gasol. The Knicks have been mentioned in a number of crazy rumors already and it has continued into the deadline, as they now could be back in the Jeremy Lin business according to sources, while other deals have the team looking at Jeff Teague with the Hawks and also the Clippers in a move that would include Iman Shumpert.
The Knicks have been a mess this season and now they have a chance to make a move to get things right, but it's unclear if they have the ammo to do it at this time. The team will continue to get mentioned in trade rumors and heading into tomorrow, they probably will be connected to everyone. It's looking less likely that Greg Monroe will get traded, as he was a player mentioned quite a bit heading into the week, but now that the deadline is a day away rumors have gone quiet. Rodney Stuckey could be another option that moves, while Josh Smith and his contract are likely too big to deal.
Afflalo and Jameer Nelson have been mentioned as potential trading chips for the Orlando Magic, but the team has not yet received a deal they like. Gordon Hayward has been a player that teams think they can snag since he is a restricted free agent and the Jazz could not bring him in on a contract before the season and heading into the deadline, the Boston Celtics were an interesting option, as Hayward's old coach is in Boston in Brad Stevens.
The Suns and Nets are teams that could be active heading into the deadline on Thursday, while the Celtics also could be making moves, as they have contracts of Brandon Bass, Gerald Wallace and Jeff Green. The team has been rumored in deals involving Rondo and Omer Asik, but that likely will not be happening. The team has multiple first round picks and Danny Ainge has to walk a fine line with the way he makes moves, as he is trying to rebuild for the future.
