The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers are playing live on Friday night and while it lacks the luster and star power that is usually does, the ESPN game will feature Rajon Rondo and will be streaming on WatchESPN and ESPN radio from the Staples Center at 10:30 pm ET.
The Celtics and Lakers are nowhere near the NBA playoffs this year and with Kobe Bryant out, Rajon Rondo is the biggest star and he is a little pissed now after the team traded away Steve Blake. The Celtics didn't make any major moves and they come into the game after a loss against the Suns on Sunday in Phoenix and after playing the Lakers the team continues their road trip with a matchup against the Kings.
The Celtics come into the game ranked 26th in the league in scoring in points per game with 95 and they are allowing about the same amount, ranking eighth in the league with 98 allowed per game. The team is 26th in assists per game and 14th in rebounding and heading into the game they are 19-36 overall for the season. Jeff Green is leading the team in scoring and the Lakers come in after a bad loss at home to Dwight Howard and the Houston Rockets and after playing the Celtics the team has another home game against the Brooklyn Nets.
The team has had a very disappointing season and they are hoping Kobe Bryant can come back next year healthy and Steve Nash has been injured as well and now they will face off against another disappointing team. The Lakers are averaging 1900 points per game and are ranked third in the league in scoring at 14th in points per game and they are ranked 21st in rebounding with just over 40 per contest. The team is ranked in the top 10 in assists per game but they are 29th in defense with 106 points allowed and now they are looking towards the future after the tough season they have had.
