As projected here on SWR, Dolph Ziggler was given a shot at the World Heavyweight Title at this Sunday's Now Way Out PPV. Ziggler won a Fatal-4-Way elimination match on last night's Raw to earn the match with Sheamus on Sunday. Ziggler will be replacing Alberto Del Rio who suffered a legitimate concussion last week.
While it isn't likely that WWE will end Sheamus's title run this quickly, the main event matchup is quite important for Ziggler. Excelling on the mid card level because of his genuine in-ring ability, Ziggler has won over a wrestling audience that craves more genuine action and less storyline posturing.
While technically a heel, it seems that the "Show Off" is headed down the path of Chris Jericho and Daniel Bryan rather than Del Rio. Last night, despite facing fan favorite Christian, Ziggler found himself receiving chants in his favor from the live audience.
Ziggler once held the World Title for a brief time in 2011 during his feud with Edge. Edge would quickly earn the title back, and did not relinquish the prize until he was legitimately forced to retire in April of that year.
