Kansas' run in the Big 12 has not been smooth sailing, but after beatingTexas over the weekend, the Jayhawks have gotten a win over every team in the conference at least once. Their streak of nine-straight conference titles could still be in serious jeopardy as the Jayhawks prepare to face Oklahoma, a team they have traditionally dominated.
Only four other teams in history have won 10-straight conference titles and Kansas is looking to become the fifth. The team is on a three-game win streak right as they face the Sooners on home court. The Jayhawks have a three-game lead in the conference over Oklahoma as both Texas and Iowa State remain in play for the title with four games left to play.
The Longhorns' chances at a title ended on Saturday. Kansas got the jump on the team early and never looked back. Andrew Wiggins put up 21 points, scoring 15 in the first half. The freshman has been on a roll lately, averaging 19.0 points off 58.8 shooting percent in his last three games. The last time Wiggins faced Oklahoma, he was held to just nine points, shooting 2 of 9 overall.
Kansas got the win over Oklahoma the first time around as the team shot 54.7 percent overall. Wayne Selden Jr put up 24 points while Perry Ellis added another 22 to make up for Wiggins' struggles. Oklahoma is still an offensive threat. The team is averaging 82.8 points per game, ranking them second in the conference. They remain the only team with five players averaging double figures in points and look to ride that to the conference tournaments.
The Sooners are also coming off a big win. They beat Kansas State over the weekend to get them tied for second in the Big 12. The Jayhawks have won 12 straight home games against the Sooners while winning 11 of the last 12 matches overall.
