Raymond Felton Rumors: NY Knicks PG To Play Against Miami Heat Thursday After Gun Arrest Charges

Feb 26, 2014 10:11 AM EST

NY Knicks point guard Raymond Felton is out of jail on bail after appearing in court and according to reports, he is expected to remain with the team and play on Thursday against the Miami Heat.

The NY Post reports that Felton is expected to practice with the Knicks on Wednesday and will travel on Thursday to Miami and will play against the Heat. Felton turned himself in after his estranged wife brought his gun into a local police station and claimed Felton pointed it at her and threatened her and after turning himself in and remaining in custody for nearly a day, he posted bail and was released.

The report says that his wife claimed that Felton waved the non-registered gun around and pointed it at her and he was charged with one count of criminal possession of a firearm and one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and he appeared before the judge and possibly could get sentenced to prison time. The arrest and charges are somewhat similar to what happened with Plaxico Burress years ago, but he obviously shot himself in the leg.

Felton will be back in court in June and that is after the season, so it works out for him and the Knicks and it is likely that he could avoid major jail time. Reports say that Felton was charged with criminal possession of the firearm and not "using the weapon in a threatening manner", meaning it was not a second felony charge for him and since he himself did not possess it at the time, he could get out of it as well.

According to the Post, he likely will play on Thursday.
