PGA Leaderboard: Honda Classic Has Rory McIlroy In Lead Over Lee Westwood, Tiger Woods Into Weekend Round

The PGA Tour leaderboard at the Honda Classic in Florida has Rory McIlroy in first place in the lead over Lee Westwood, Tiger Woods and Adam Scott as the weekend rounds pick up and he built on his lead from Thursday and is now 11 under as the Saturday schedule picks up and he is putting himself in nice position for the final round on Sunday.

The Honda Classic is shaping up to have a good weekend in Florida and Tiger Woods is looking to get back on track, while McIlroy has helped to erase the bad feelings he had at this tournament last year. Woods was winning early and often on the tour last season as he took back the number one ranking from McIlroy, winning five times overall, but this season is starting out completely different.

McIlroy walked off the course last year in frustration and pain, as he got off to a terrible start to the year and was dealing with the media laying on him about his clubs and now he appears to be on track at the course. Last year he walked off during the second round and had one of the worst performances of his career, putting up a score over nine holes that included a bogey, two double-bogeys and a triple-bogey and that was enough for him. This year he now is 11 under and had the lead heading into the clubhouse and the weekend and he had six birdies on the day on Friday.

McIlroy started off slow on the course but he picked things up as time went on and he ended up going six under over the last 12 holes of the day and he finished early on just as the rest of the field was picking up. McIlroy now comes into things at eighth after being number one last year and winning five times the year before and now he hopes to get off to a better start in 2014 and then turn that into another major victory, as the Masters are already around the corner.

Woods would love to get a mulligan on the start of this season, because the way things are going, the Masters could be a disaster if he keeps playing like this. Woods started off with a rough performance at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines and he ended up missing the secondary cut at 80th and that was a tournament he won last year. Woods then went to Dubai and he played better, but not great and ended up in 41st and now he is off to the worst start over that stretch in his career.
