The Academy Awards for 2014 are live and ABC is streaming the Oscars TV event online with coverage Sunday from WatchABC.com and the film awards event hands out the top prizes for last year and ‘12 Years A Slave', ‘Gravity' and ‘Dallas Buyers Club' are expected to be winners and the latter film has a sports connection, as White Sox slugger will be in attendance as a producer of that movie.
The Awards this year start up early with coverage at 7 pm with the red carpet and then the awards get started up at 8:30 pm ET and should run past 11:30 pm with the final award going to the Best Picture and many feel it is a race between ‘Gravity,' ‘12 Years A Slave' and ‘American Hustle'. Adam Dunn will be attending the awards, according to ESPN.com, and that decision came after the star had previously said it would be up to manager Robin Ventura on the decision of whether he would attend as an investor in the production company that made the film ‘Dallas Buyers Club.'
Dunn appeared in the film as a bartender and also is an investor in Truth Entertainment, which is the production company that helped get the film made and this year at the Oscars it is nominated for six awards, including Best Picture. The film is the frontrunner for two of the biggest awards on the night in Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, as both Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto come in as favorites in each category. The film is also nominated in the screenplay category and for best makeup and the awards show will give Dunn the chance to rub elbows with some of the Hollywood elite.

The decision came down from general manager Rick Hahn and manager Robin Ventura, who told Dunn it would be be no problem for him to attend the awards, as it's a once in a lifetime opportunity and it wouldn't force him to miss time, as he will not need to play Sunday before returning on Monday. Truth Entertainment was started by a friend of Dunn's and it was the first film made under the banner of the company and now it's very likely to win at least one award, as Leto has won basically everything already on the awards circuit. Dunn's cameo comes as the character of Ron Woodruff, played by McConoughey, comes into a bar and Dunn portrays the man behind the counter.
The awards this year are very anticipated and many see this as one of the most exciting best picture and best actor races ever, as the PGA Award tied for the first time with ‘Gravity' and ‘12 Years A Slave', while Leonardo DiCaprio is expected to give McConoughey a run for his money, even if the latter star is the one projected to win. Hustle is nominated for a ton of awards, but many feel that ‘12' is a much better best picture choice and the academy may follow that logic and this year could be huge as well for Cate Blanchett, as she is expected to win the best actress award.
The Academy Awards will be streaming live from ABC and the host will be Ellen Degeneres.
