LeBron James and Kevin Durant are battling for the MVP award this season and after Durant took over as the favorite, the King is back in the top spot after dropping 61 points for a career high and he has been playing great as the Miami Heat make a strong second half NBA schedule run to the playoffs.

Many accused the Heat and James of coasting earlier in the season, but no one can say that now and despite being against the Bobcats, the 61 points from James was very impressive. That was his best game ever and topped his 56 point performance when he was with Cleveland and James had 24 points by halftime and was fantastic over the back stretch of the game. He made 22 of his 33 shots and he also made eight shots in a row to start from three point range.

The 61 points are a franchise record and the team now has won eight straight games and Miami is starting to look very strong and it has been in large part because of the play of James. Al Jefferson had 38 points and 19 rebounds for Charlotte, but no one seemed to care, while James continued to reign down with shots from everywhere on the court.

"The man above has given me some unbelievable abilities to play the game of basketball," James said. "I just try to take advantage of it every night. I got the trust of my teammates and my coaching staff to go in there and let it go."
