The NY Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays are playing on Wednesday in spring training on the MLB schedule and the AL east rivals are battling again for the division and this game will be at TB and comes at 1:05 pm ET after the Yankees lost against another rival in the Orioles and that game was at Steinbrenner Field.
The Yankees come in after the loss to Baltimore and they next will play against the Phillies and they have performed well so far in spring training. The team comes in after signing Brian McCann, Masahiro Tanaka, Jacoby Ellsbury and Carlos Beltran to contracts and they are expecting to be back in the playoffs after missing last season.
The Yankees dealt with a ton of injuries last year and missed the playoffs for the just the second time in two decades and now they have spent a ton of money to get back into it. Derek Jeter has said he will retire at the end of the season and that adds even more pressure to things and he will be the main focus as the team travels, as he will be getting gifts and praise from all over the MLB.
The Yanks ranked 16th in runs last season and they were 24th in batting average and while they are the oldest team on average ever, they feel that experience will help this season and could translate into a championship run. The Rays likely will trade David Price at some point and they come in after a win against the Red Sox and they next will play against the Baltimore Orioles. The team comes in after being in the top 12 in runs last season in the league and they were in the top five in on base percentage and they also were 12th in batting average.
