The Cincinnati Bengals are coming off of another playoff disappointment and heading into the draft, many in the league have wondered whether the team will pick a young quarterback like Aaron Murray or AJ McCarron to compete with Andy Dalton and that has fueled speculation and rumors that a trade could be possible in the future.
This is not a report saying that the Bengals are looking to trade Dalton, but after the playoffs loss last season to the Chargers, Pro Football Talk reported that the team could look into moving Dalton or drafting a young quarterback if he continues to struggle in the playoffs. The Bengals are one of a few teams to make the playoffs in three straight seasons and they lost their games each of those years and now there is even more pressure on the team and Dalton to perform, as they may not have a long window with the Steelers struggling for two seasons.
The Bengals have high expectations coming into the year and Pro Football Talk reports that the team could look into drafting Aaron Murray as a young backup or future starter. The report from the Dayton Daily News says that Murray feels it would be "incredible" to play with AJ Green again after the two were in Georgia in college together and Murray likely would be a later round pick for the team.
The Bengals pick at number 24 in the first round this season and Murray could be an option in the second, third or fourth rounds, which is where most of the QBs went last season. The two played together in 2010 and combined to have nine touchdowns and Murray said playing with Green could be great again if he has the chance and Carlos Holmes writes that the Bengals have "legitimate" interest in Murray as a possible backup.
Murray may drop because of the injury last season to his ACL and that could be good for the Bengals, as they could get him a bit later in the draft. The report says that Murray interviewed with the Bengals at the combine and he said he would fit in well with their organization.
