The NY Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies are waiting for the rain to go away for their spring training game on Thursday and Masahiro Tanaka is expected to get the start for New York for his first true starting action of the year and the matchup is streaming online from MLB.com and comes as the teams are battling in the Grapefruit League.
The Yankees have plenty to keep an eye on for Wednesday, as Tanaka is making his first start for the team in the spring and so is Mark Teixeira, who is making his debut with the team. The rain could have an effect on the game and who ends up playing, but the Yankees are excited to see what Tanaka can do in three innings after he pitched two last week and they are excited to get Teixeira in the lineup after he missed nearly all of last season with wrist injuries.
CC Sabathia is set for a simulated game and the weather will not have any effect on that and the team is hoping that Tanaka can get his work in on Thursday and it comes after he had a nice appearance in his first game with the Yankees. Newly signed names like Carlos Beltran and Brian McCann are in the lineup for the game and the team has very high expectations after signing those guys along with Tanaka and Ellsbury and even though they let Robinson Cano go, the Yankees feel that Brian Roberts can stay healthy enough to make up for it.
The team could have the game moved and that means Tanaka could go at Steinbrenner Field on Friday night. The Yankees come into the game after a close loss against the Rays and they next will play against the Detroit Tigers.
