Jacksonville Jaguars Draft Rumors: Derek Carr, Logan Thomas, David Fales, Connor Shaw Late Round Options Over Johnny Manziel, Jadeveon Clowney, Blake Bortles?

The Jacksonville Jaguars have a top five pick once again and while many feel that taking a player like Johnny Manziel, Jadeveon Clowney, Blake Bortles or Teddy Bridgewater is the best pick for the team, some have speculated that trading down or taking a quarterback later like Derek Carr, Logan Thomas, David Fales, Connor Shaw or Aaron Murray is a better plan for Jax to do on 2014.

The Jaguars went just 4-12 last season and after picking Luke Joeckel second overall, they now have the third overall pick and could be in line for a top prospect. Manziel has been linked as a potential pick and Clowney could be an option as well if he drops past the top two. ESPN.com speculates that it would be best for the Jaguars to wait on taking a quarterback, as they have so many holes at so many positions that it may make more sense to take quarterbacks later in the draft.

The report says that with a deep pool of talent at QB and a defense that needs an overhaul, taking one or multiple quarterbacks through the draft might be a better move. Teddy Bridgewater, Johnny Manziel or Blake Bortles could be available and the team clearly could get one of those names, but some other suggestions for the later rounds includes Aaron Murray, Derek Carr, Logan Thomas, David Fales, Connor Shaw and AJ McCarron.

Some rumors have the Atlanta Falcons trading up for Clowney, while many other teams could be angling to do the same and with the Rams at the second pick, that very well could happen. Bridgewater is considered the most "pro ready" quarterback of the top three and that could be why the Browns pick him, as he had nearly 10,000 passing yards in college with 72 touchdowns and just 24 picks over that time and with players like Josh Gordon and Jordan Cameron on offense, he could be a perfect option. Bridgewater doesn't have the flash of Manziel or the size of Bortles, but he could be a great option for the team at number four and there is a good chance he will be there when the pick.

The Browns have different reasons for liking all these players and depending on how Pettine wants to build the team that is how they will pick. Clowney is an interesting player, but he likely will be gone by the time the Browns pick, as the Texans, Jaguars and Rams, or a team that trades up likely will take him over those first three picks. Clowney lit up the combine with his 40-time, but his bench press and stats from the season have disappointed scouts and many wonder if his work ethic will be there in the NFL.
