Louisville's senior class has a place in history. Russ Smith, Luke Hancock, Stephan Van Treese and Tim Hernderson all played a role in winning the national championship title last season while finishing as the winningest class in school history. Together, the senior class has a 115-30 record before their 2014 season final. They look to continue that as they battle the Connecticut Huskies to earn a share of the AAC title.
Louisville has been the Huskies once this season and would like to complete the sweep. The senior class is looking to finish on top whether that is a second-straight title or not. Together the foursome has earned consecutive Big East titles, back-to-back Final Four trips and a championship. Smith is the leader of the four. He ranks eighth win 1,776 points while averaging 18.0 points per game and 4.5 assists on 46.8 percent shooting. The guard expects to be a solid option in the NBA.
Smith is coming off a monster game against SMU. The guard put up 26 points while making six 3-pointers during the game. Right now, if Louisville is going to win a title, they must first beat the Huskies and complete a strong run in the conference tournament for a favorable seed in March Madness. The Cardinals are tied on top of the conference with No. 15 Cincinnati after the two teams split their season series.
The Huskies are currently in third place in the conference. They will be saying goodbye to both Shabazz Napier and Niels Giffey who have both put together solid college careers. Napier needs just two points to catch Kemba Walker and place him seventh on the school's all-time scoring list. He will be looking to avoid losing to Louisville twice in one season.
