The Los Angeles Galaxy and Real Salt Lake are playing on the MLS Soccer schedule on Saturday night and the game is streaming online and starts at 10:30 pm ET at the StubHub Center in LA and has both teams looking to start the year off with a win in the opener and the two will play again quickly in a couple weeks and that will be at Rio Tinto Stadium.

The Galaxy had another successful season last year despite not winning the Cup for a third straight time, while the Salt Lake side ended up in the MLS Cup and lost to Sporting Kansas City. The first day of the Major League Soccer schedule saw some exciting matches, with the Seattle Sounders winning the season opener against Kansas City and that was on a goal from Chad Barrett in extra time and that was off of a miss and setup from Clint Dempsey. The game was hard fought and saw the Sounders start the season off with a win and Columbus won on the road after getting two goals from Federico Higuain and that put them in the win column over DC United.

The New York Red Bulls opened the season on the road and this comes after they were the top seed last season in the playoffs and suffered another disappointment and the Vancouver Whitecaps dominated, scoring two first half goals and getting two from Kenny Miller in the game for a 3-0 victory and they started off the year with a fine result. The Montreal Impact hung in tight on the road and lost to FC Dallas and the game got close after a goal from Andrew Wenger, but the team was able to hold on for the victory. Will Bruin powered Houston past New England with two goals, while the Galaxy and RSL will play at the same time as the Portland Timbers and the Philadelphia Union for the final matches of the day.

The Galaxy come into the game after signing Robbie Keane to a contract extension and they were very happy to get the deal done, as he has had 34 goals over his stretch of time with the team and he also helped power the team to two straight championships. Last season he had 16 goals and 11 assists after appearing in over 20 games and that puts him back in the swing of things, while the Galaxy kept their main veteran Landon Donovan earlier and the team is looking to get back into the championship game after losing in the playoffs last season.

The Galaxy have been ahead of the curve as a franchise with their work with David Beckham and now they have put together a farm team as the first MLS franchise to create one of those and they are developing the team to play with the US Leagues pro division and they said they felt this was important to the growth of the sport in the United States.
