Seton Hall and Villanova are playing on Fox Sports 1 on Thursday in the Big East Tournament and the quarterfinal game comes after the Wildcats had a bye and the number three team in the nation plays from Madison Square Garden and the game is streaming from FS1 online and starts up at 12 pm noon ET and Seton Hall has pulled the upset on a last second jumper for the win.
Villanova has been playing very well and Jay Wright has his team right where he wants them and they went 16-2 in the conference this season and playing against Seton Hall should be no issue. The team should not overlook their opponents, but this is an easy game for them and they come in after finishing the season with a win against Georgetown and with a good showing here, they could be in line for a number one seed in the NCAA tournament at the end of the month. The team comes in averaging nearly 80 points per game and they are ranked in the top 30 in the nation and they have been very efficient, shooting nearly 47 percent from the field.
The team comes in ranked 68th in the nation in rebounding and in the top 20 in assists per game and they went 28-3 this season and were very impressive behind Wichita State and Florida in the last top 25 rankings and now they are the favorites to win the new Big East this season. The winner gets in on an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament and while Nova will make it no matter what, a win will likely give the Wildcats one of the number one seeds.
The team comes into the tournament having won six games in a row and their only loss during the past 13 games came against Creighton and they are a ranked team. The Wildcats have won big games against Kansas and Marquette this season and while they lost to Syracuse, they have rebounded nicely from their losses to Creighton and those were the only defeats in the conference for the team this year. Nova finished on top of the Big East over Creighton and Providence and now the tournament returns to MSG. Darrun Hilliard II has been playing very well and he is averaging nearly 20 points in the last five games and that will be key and Seton Hall is looking to continue their run after making it into the quarters for the first time in a decade.
Seton Hall comes into the game after a close win against Butler and now they face Nova and this comes after they went 6-12 in the conference this season. The team had lost four of its last five games and now they are looking to pull off a huge upset at the Garden and a win here would be amazing for the team, but it's very unlikely with the way Villanova is playing.
