Mar 17, 2014 12:54 PM EDT

The St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Red Sox are playing a spring training game on Monday and the World Series rematch will be live online and on TV from ESPN and the WatchESPN website and should be one of the best of the Grapefruit League as the game starts at 1 pm at JetBlue Park at Fenway South in Florida.

The rematch comes after the two teams played in the World Series and of course the Red Sox were winners and now Boston comes into the game after losing against the Tampa Bay Rays and they next will play against the NY Yankees and that will be at George M. Steinbrenner Field on Tuesday. The game comes as the two teams are looking to have good seasons yet again and the Cardinals have been one of the most consistent franchises in baseball over the last decade and they should once again be in the mix.

As the season gets closer more and more players will start playing more in spring training games and that makes these even more competitive for the teams. The Red Sox come into the game after being one of the best offensive teams in the league last season and they were ranked first in the majors in runs scored and they also were tops in on base and slugging percentage and second in batting average and that was one of the main reasons why they ended up winning the World Series.

The pitching for the Sox was nearly as good and they were third in quality starts and had a sub 4.00 ERA and now they have the chance to host the Cards and beat them again. The Red Sox come into the game after a loss against the Mets and St. Louis was one of the best offensive teams in the National League last season, as they ranked third in the majors in runs and fourth in batting average overall. The team was third in on base and 12th in slugging percentage and they made it to the World Series on the strength of their young pitching, which should keep the team good for years to come. The team ranked fifth in ERA and eighth in WHIP and now they are looking to make up for their WS loss last season and they next play the Minnesota Twins.

The game for St. Louis Cardinals and Red Sox gives both teams a nice set to play and this rematch will be another solid chance for the Sox to show how deep their lineup is and they will be tough to challenge in the AL: East, even with the Yankees and all their signings, including Jacoby Ellsbury switching sides in the rivalry.
