NCAA Tournament Championship Prediction: Florida Gators Win Title As Number One Seed Over Arizona Wildcats, Virginia Cavaliers, Wichita State Shockers

Mar 18, 2014 11:53 AM EDT

The number 1 seeds for March Madness and the NCAA Tournament this year are the Florida Gators, Arizona Wildcats, Wichita State Shockers and Virginia Cavaliers and the teams are considered the best in the west, east, south and Midwest regions and now they will have clear shots into the Final Four as the top seeds in each bracket.

The first round of the tournament starts with the First Four on Tuesday with two games and those will be in Dayton on March 18 and 19 and then on Thursday the actual tournament will begin with the second round and the matchups will be around the nation with games at the First Niagara Center (Buffalo, N.Y.), BMO Harris Bradley Center (Milwaukee), Amway Center (Orlando, Fla.) and Veterans Memorial Arena (Spokane, Wash.) and those are where the first set of games will be going down for the second and third rounds.

The seeds at the top of the tournament were not without controversy and many felt that Michigan State, Louisville and UCLA all got a bit hosed and they got lower seeds than many expected. The Cavaliers are coming in after winning the ACC tournament and the ACC regular season title and that came after two decades and they completed a great season in the conference and won the title in the season after defeating Syracuse. The Cavs are the top defensive team in the nation and they will have plenty to build on as they head into March Madness.

Wichita State completed an undefeated season and they were placed in the tough Midwest and that has Louisville, Duke and Michigan and many are happy that the region is stacked to give the Shockers a true test. The team is the first to enter the tourney undefeated since UNLV in the 1990s and now they have the chance to continue their run. Arizona got a top seed despite losing to UCLA in the Pac-12 tournament, while Florida finished an undefeated season in the SEC with a regular season title and a victory over Kentucky in the tournament championship game.
