The Arizona Wildcats and Gonzaga Bulldogs are playing on the NCAA tournament schedule on Sunday night and the final game of the third round will set the Sweet 16 and the number one team in Zona will take on the Zags as the eighth seed from the west bracket and the game is streaming from the March Madness website on TBS and is coming from the Viejas Arena at Aztec Bowl in San Diego.
Arizona comes in as one of the favorites in the tournament and they have been one of the most consistent team in the nation, averaging over 70 points and shooting nearly 47 percent from the field and they are 18th in the country in rebounding with nearly 40 per game. The team has Nick Johnson and Aaron Gordon as their top two players and Johnson is in the running for player of the year and they both have been impressive this season for the Wildcats and they are going to be the main focus for the Zags in the game on Sunday.
The matchup will complete the Sweet 16 and Arizona is looking good heading into the game ranking in the top 10 in points allowed per game with 58 points allowed per contest and they have won three of the last four games they have played, including against Weber in the opening round. The team lost to UCLA in the Pac-12 conference championship game and the Wildcats were winners during the regular season and Johnson and Gordon are the two leading scorers for the team and they will have to be slowed down for Gonzaga to have a chance.
Florida and UCLA are playing in the Sweet 16 in the South region and Dayton will be taking on Stanford after they both pulled upsets of Syracuse and Kansas and Michigan State is through in the East, while UConn and Iowa State will be playing. Iowa State and North Carolina played a very competitive game and on the other side, Tennessee and Michigan are playing in the Sixteen along with the top matchup of Louisville and Kentucky and that will have plenty of intrigue with John Calipari and Rick Pitino matching up with each other. Wisconsin is through to the Sweet 16 and so is San Diego State after they won against North Dakota.
Wichita State lost a tough game to Kentucky on Sunday and now Gonzaga will try and take the mantle as the Cinderella team and it was the most points allowed this season by the Shockers and now their undefeated season is done for. Gonzaga comes in after going 15-3 in their conference to match the record of Arizona and they won their first game in a matchup with Oklahoma State and they went 29-6 on the season. The team comes in averaging over 75 points per game and they were ranked fifth in field goal percentage as a team this year and they shot nearly 50 percent and the defense was very solid as well, allowing just 65 points this season.
