The Washington Redskins have been an active team in free agency and this offseason they could continue making moves, as a trade of Kirk Cousins behind RG3 to the Cleveland Browns could still be in the cards, while names like Marqise Lee, Kelvin Benjamin and Mike Evans are potential targets over signing free agent wide receiver Kenny Britt, who has also had interest from the Patriots.
The Redskins have made some major moves this offseason, including bringing back Brian Orakpo and signing Andre Roberts, Jason Hatcher and Tracy Porter and now Jay Gruden could be looking to make some other moves ahead of the NFL draft. According to ESPN.com blogger John Keim, the Redskins still could look at a trade of Kirk Cousins after rumors came up earlier in the offseason and the Browns are a potential partner, as they have extra draft picks for this year's event and could go for Cousins over trying to snag either Johnny Manziel or Blake Bortles.
The team is in need of a quarterback after ditching both Brandon Weeden and Jason Campbell and Cousins could be a better option for the team, as they could draft a high impact player at number four over a QB. The Redskins signed Roberts and they also could go after Kenny Britt, as ESPN.com is reporting that the team still has interest in him after the Patriots were a potential landing spot, but Robert Kraft said that the team is not planning on signing him. The Redskins are looking for a bargain and Britt could be the perfect player for that, as he had a terrible season with the Titans last year and could come onto the roster for the cheap.
Britt played in 12 games last season and had just 11 catches for less than 100 yards and that was some of the worst production of any player in the NFL last season. Britt had some off the field issues and problems with the Titans and now he has to be on his best behavior if he wants to get picked up by a decent team. ESPN.com writes that the Raiders also could be an option for Britt and the Redskins may add him as another option behind Pierre Garcon and Santana Moss.
Britt has dealt with injuries in the past and if he can get over his other issues, he could be a solid addition for the Redskins, as they are allowing Josh Morgan to leave as a free agent and with Leonard Hankerson coming off an injury and Moss another year older, depth will be very important. RG3 is coming back after his injuries and he needs as many weapons as he can get behind Garcon, who has turned into a very solid number one wideout for the team. Britt was a former first round draft pick and after injuring his ACL and MCL in 2011 he has never been able to recover, going from 45 catches in 2012 to barely anything last year and if the Skins sign him, they hope he can put up numbers like 2010 when he was a red zone threat and had 42 catches for 775 yards and nine touchdowns.
