Barcelona signed 6-year-old Brazilian wonderkid Artur Miani.
Artur underwent a trial at Barca's soccer academy - La Masia - in May and impressed the coaches, who announced his acceptance via a letter. The six-year-old's elder sister had applied for the trial online on the Catalan giants' official website.
Artur is expected to join the club in September. Artur's father, Adilson Miani, could not hide his delight after his son was accepted to one of the world's best soccer academies.
"This is a huge pride." Adilson told Globoesporte. "He played against kids he had never seen before in his life.
"He even dealt with the jet lag and the long trip. I am very happy.
"My son has been approved by one of the biggest clubs in the world.
"They have not yet sent any information, or said if they will help with the costs, but we are already thinking about how we will cope with this.
"He is six years old, so he cannot go alone. I cannot leave the country right now, so his mother will probably go with him there."
Barcelona's La Masia academy is considered one of the best in the world and has produced some of the game's greats, including Lionel Messi, Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta and Cesc Fabregas.
