The NCAA Sweet 16 schedule picks up on TV Thursday and starts up at 7:15 pm ET for the college basketball tournament round of games and heading into the Elite Eight, there will be four games on Thursday and four more on Friday to determine the regional finals ahead of the Final Four this weekend.
The tournament has been a very exciting one so far this year and there have been a huge amount of upsets, including from both Dayton and Stanford, who will be playing the first game on Thursday night for the Sweet 16. Dayton comes into the matchup after winning over Ohio State in the first game in the tournament and they also upset Syracuse and they now have the chance to move on to the Elite Eight and they are taking over as the Cinderella team now after Wichita State was eliminated and they were the first number one team to lose.
Stanford comes in after winning a hard fought game against Kansas and now those two teams are the only matchup with double digit seeds in this round. The South region has been one of the most entertaining in the tournament and the other matchup there for Friday has Florida taking on UCLA and that played out as planned, as the teams matchup with one and four seeds and the Gators are coming in as one of the strongest teams left, as they had an undefeated season while winning the SEC under Billy Donovan. Dayton won their two games by a combined three points and that is what Stanford won over Kansas by and now one of those teams will be crashing the dance and they could end up into the Final Four with a couple more great performances and that would be a huge surprise.
Baylor and Wisconsin match up and that should be an even game on both sides, as the Badgers and Bears were strong during the season and now they could advance to the next round as well. The UCLA game with Florida has the potential to be great, as the Bruins come in as Pac-12 tournament champions and they have played above expectations towards the end of the season. Florida is very strong and they will be a tough team to take down. Arizona and San Diego State played out as planned with a one and four matchup and now the two teams face off and the Wildcats come in with two of the best players in the nation in Nick Johnson and Aaron Gordon.
The Friday games have great matchups as well, with Michigan taking on Tennessee and that is the first game on the schedule and is on CBS. The matchup with Kentucky and Louisville is the big one everyone is keeping an eye on and then the late game will be Michigan State and Virginia with the other game as UConn and Iowa State.
