The Detroit Tigers took game one from the Kansas City Royals to open the season and now the MLB game for Wednesday will be going down at 1:08 pm ET from Comerica Park and the matchup has Max Scherzer coming back from his Cy Young and he will pitch against Jason Vargas in the AL Central battle.
The Tigers started the Brad Ausmus era with a win and now they head into the game on Wednesday with the chance to get through two games undefeated. The teams had off on Tuesday and now they have the chance to come back after winning 4-3 and Scherzer is getting the ball fresh off his Cy Young and he had a great record last season for the Tigers, winning 21 games and dropping just three and he had a sub 3.00 ERA and now he has the chance to continue that success, as the Tigers were 14-2 last season in games he started in Detroit.
Scherzer was mentioned in trade rumors during the offseason and he is looking to sign a long term deal after the season and he comes in after having the best run support in the majors last year. Scherzer has had some great success against the Royals in the past and he has started seven games in the past two years and has a 5-0 record with a 2.86 ERA and he will have to watch out for the young talent of the Royals, including Alex Gordon, Billy Butler and Eric Hosmer as they look to make the playoffs after finishing over .500 for the first time in over a decade.
Vargas comes into things after signing a four year deal with the Royals and now they are looking to bounce back after losing the opening game. The team scored three runs in the first game and now they get the chance to try and tag Scherzer early in the season and the Tigers are hoping to keep things going as they try to win the division again. The Royals are an upstart team and they could be in the mix as one of the wild cards this season in the American League.
