NFL Rumors: DeSean Jackson, Robert Griffin III Argue Over Jersey Number, Washington Redskins WR Thanks Pierre Garcon, DeAngelo Hall After Free Agent Deal

DeSean Jackson and Robert Griffin III are ready to become the next great quarterback-wide receiver duo after the Washington Redskins signed the wide receiver after his release from the Philadelphia Eagles last week. However, before they can start being productive on the field, they have something to settle off the field. No. 10 appears to already be taken when it comes to jersey numbers, so does Jackson switch from his long-time number?

Yes, Griffin and Jackson both sport the same jersey number and this is apparently an issue. Griffin is the franchise quarterback and Jackson was a one-time franchise wide receiver. Who gets the number? NFL players are apparently very attached to their numbers. Eric Decker recently paid big bucks to keep his long-time number after he signed with the Jets. Charles Woodson did the same thing with the Oakland Raiders. Who gives in, Griffin or Jackson?

"I definitely am familiar on the No. 10 [worn by] Robert Griffin," Jackson said, via Tarik El-Bashir of CSN Washington. "We've talked about it a little bit. But that isn't a decision that's been made yet so far. Maybe by the time the season starts we'll know. Maybe RGIII will wear No. 3  and I'll try to get in [No.] 10.  We'll see how it goes, though. You never know."

Jackson could have a hard time convincing Griffin to be the one switching numbers. Plenty of Redskins fans already have their No. 10 RG3 jerseys. Nike has made millions off Washington No. 10 jerseys. Griffin took to Twitter after Jackson's comments and reassured fans that he would not be the one switching numbers. The quarterback tweeted, "Fans everywhere please calm down. Not changing my # @DeSeanJAckson10 will kick off his new beginning with us in a new one #HTTR." So it is settled then, right?

Jackson called his move to Washington humbling and stressed that he is ready for a fresh start with his new team. While speaking with media on a conference call after inking his new deal, the wide receiver noted that he really felt embraced by Washington and the Redskins fanbase along with his new teammates.

"I feel they embraced me," Jackson said, via Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News. "RGIII, DeAngelo Hall reached out, made me feel like home, . . . DeAngelo Hall really stepped up to plate."
