NFL Trade Rumors: NY Jets Trading Up In Draft For Eric Ebron, Mike Evans, Jace Amaro With 12 Picks For John Idzik?

The NFL draft is coming up and a number of teams are looking to trade up and the NY Jets are one of the teams that could be trading, as names like Eric Ebron, Mike Evans, Jace Amaro and Sammy Watkins could be in the mix for GM John Idzik, who has 12 picks to work with heading into the May event and that means the Jets could be very active.

The Jets come into the draft looking to add more on offense and this comes after the team signed Michael Vick, Eric Decker and Jacoby Ford in the offseason already. According to ESPN.com, the Jets are looking at Mike Evans, Jace Amaro and Eric Ebron as options and while they may be too far up to get those players, the team has 12 picks to play with this year. The team can't trade any of the compensatory picks they have, but that means they now have flexibility with the other picks and that means Idzik can look to trade up a player that the Jets like. The team needs more weapons on offense for Vick and Geno Smith and with a deep draft this season, they should be able to get at least one big name player.

Evans is a name that has continued to come up in draft talks and he could sneak into the top 10 and that may put him out of reach for the Jets. The team still could trade up for him, but that might mean giving too much up. Evans was wildly productive last season at Texas A&M and he had 69 catches for over 1,300 yards and averaged 20 yards per catch and adding him to an offense with Decker could give the Jets one of the best tandems in the league for the first time in years.

The team may also target the tight end position, as Amaro and Ebron have gotten high marks from scouts and both have that athletic build that the league is turning towards at the position. Ebron comes off a very nice season in North Carolina and as ESPN.com points out, the two players combined saw nearly 90 percent of their catches come from the slot or when they were lined up as a wide receiver. While both can play off the line like traditional tight ends, these two are not anything of the sort and they could be very valuable weapons for a veteran or developing quarterback in Vick or Smith.

Ebron is looking like the better prospect of the two and he caught 49 of his 62 passes from that position writes ESPN and he also averaged nearly nine yards after the catch last season and that could be a huge reason to draft him as well. He had 973 yards and three touchdowns last season and he had a great 40 yard dash and has the size to be a great tight end in the NFL. Chris Johnson will be an option for the team if and when he is released and the Jets could go after him as well and the Jets come in with the number 18 pick in the draft and they also have four sixth round picked and three fourth round picks.
