The Brooklyn Nets have the chance to be the only team to sweep the Miami Heat this season. The reigning NBA champs have beaten all but one of the 29 teams at least once except for the Nets. Tonight to two teams face off for the last time in the regular season and the Nets are hoping to grab one more win in South Beach to finish off the Heat for the 2014 regular season.
The Heat have come up short in their three meetings with the Nets this season. They lost by one point back in November. They fell in double overtime in January while losing by one again in March. In each of the losses, Miami was outrebounded by 8.0 boards, while falling short each time from their 103.0 season average of points. Prior to this season, Miami had beaten the Nets 13 straight times, but Brooklyn has their number this season and is ready to go 4-0 after that lengthy streak.
Miami comes into the game having won four out of five matchups after beating the Knicks. LeBron James put up 38 points in the win as Miami moves one game ahead of the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference standings. While Miami is back on top, the team is clearly frustrated with the way they have been playing. The team had to battle back from a 16-3 deficit in order to get the win.
Brooklyn is also on a winning streak having won five out of their six games. They recently finished off the Philadelphia 76ers where Deron Williams hit 19 points and Mason Plumlee added 16 off the bench. Kevin Garnett made an appearance in that game with 10 points in 13 minutes. It was his first game back since missing five weeks with back problems. He is not expected to play against the Heat.
Miami could be without Dwyane Wade who is resting his knees in preparation for the postseason. That should help Paul Pierce continue his success against the Heat. He is averaging 23.7 points per game.
