Italy vs Ireland – Euro 2012 Watch Online Live Stream

Jun 18, 2012 02:31 PM EDT

The Republic of Ireland has already been eliminated from contention at Euro 2012, but there's still plenty of intrigue as Robbie Keane and company prepare to face Italy on Monday in their final match at Euro 2012.

Monday's game can be seen live in the U.S. on ESPN2, via online live stream at ESPN3.com or on mobile devices using the Watch ESPN app. The match will be played concurrently with the Spain vs. Croatia match, making for a wild finish to action in Group C.

Italy needs to win in order to advance to the quarterfinal round, as Spain and Croatia sit tied atop the Group C standings with four points apiece heading into their match on Monday. Italy, which has drawn against both Spain and Croatia, will advance with a win over Ireland and a loss by either Spain or Croatia. If Italy wins and the Spain-Croatia match ends in a draw, all three teams would be tied with five points.

In that case, the tiebreaker process favors Spain, which would be guaranteed a quarterfinal berth with a goal differential of plus-4. Croatia would have a goal differential of plus-2, meaning that Italy would need to win by more than two goals to guarantee advancement. If Italy wins by two goals, that would open the door to a number of other tiebreakers, including total goals scored, position in the UEFA national team ranking system, fair play conduct, and even the drawing of lots.

In short, there's a lot riding on both matches on Monday.
