The Champions League quarters finished up in grand fashion on Wednesday, as Bayern Munich won over Manchester United at home after a draw in the first leg at Old Trafford, while Atletico Madrid took their round over Barcelona and now along with Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund, Bayern and Atletico are into the semifinals as the last four teams left in the champs tournament.
Barcelona had been in the semis for six straight seasons and now that will end, while Manchester United was hoping for an upset of the Champions from last season after they were able to get a draw at home in the first leg. The team now must look back and wonder, while Chelsea made it through with Dortmund on Tuesday and the Blues are in after making a nice comeback against PSG, as they were able to win by two goals against the French side after coming down 3-1 and they did it at Stamford Bridge and they showed why Jose Mourinho is so strong at home and now that sets some great matchups.
The Blues made it through after winning 2-0 and they got a late goal from Demba Ba to get things done and now they are into the semis and they are also in the mix in the Premier League. Man U played hard, but Wayne Rooney could not get things done and he was hobbled by a bad toe and while they got the first goal from Patrice Evra early in the second half, the team could not stop the defending champs in Bayern, who got goals from Mario Mandzukic, Thomas Müller and Arjen Robben and that first equalizer was just two minutes after the opening goal. Atletico won over Barcelona on aggregate and that came after a goal from Koke and that happened five minutes in.
