The Masters is live on Friday for the second round as the golf major picks up at Augusta National and the tournament coverage comes from ESPN and the Masters.com website after Bill Haas came in with the opening lead over Adam Scott on Thursday and now things are moving along down in Georgia with Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy teeing off.
Scott is coming into the tournament after winning the Masters in 2013 and this year Tiger Woods is at home watching the major and Haas took the lead out of Thursday's round with a four under with a 68 and that gave him the best score of the opening round. The American golfer used to come to the Masters to watch when he was a kid and now he is leading after one round and he has a spot atop the leaderboard over Adam Scott, Louis Oosthuizen and Bubba Watson and that could make for a tight tournament into the weekend. Rory McIlroy ended up at one under after the first day and Phil Mickelson ended up finishing four over after struggling on the day.
Adam Scott has the chance to get the number one ranking in the world with a win or a second place finish at Augusta and he started the day off very well and he is right in the mix at the top of the leaderboard. The 33 year old won the tournament last year and that came in a playoff against Angel Cabrera and now he is in position to do it again. Woods is out of things and there are three players that can take his number one ranking and this comes after he got it back when he won five times on tour last season, including three ahead of the Masters.
Woods is in danger of losing his number one ranking after working so hard to get it back and while that will be disappointing for him, he is more upset about not being at Augusta this year. Woods was forced to miss the champions Dinner after having back surgery and now he will be trying to work his way back in time for the back half of the season. Haas started the day on Friday with a one stroke lead and after watching his father play 22 times at Augusta, he is feeling no pressure as he takes the lead and he is hoping to hang onto it through the weekend.
The top part of the leaderboard is close to start the way and names like Rickie Fowler and Rory McIlroy were within striking distance and they will try to maintain that on Friday. McIlroy is looking to make up for his performance a couple years ago, while Mickelson now is trying to hang in after the performance he had.
