If the top three players in the draft are gone, the Cleveland Cavaliers have set themselves up to have plenty of options.
Anthony Davis, Thomas Robinson and Bradley Beal are set to all go before the fourth pick is available.
Beal's overall third pick for the Washington Wizards is a bit questionable because Kentucky's Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is giving him some competition.
We already know what Beal is capable, so let's look at how much sense Kidd-Gilchrist can make for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
He possesses explosive moves to the basket, great rebounding skills and probably most importantly to Cavs fans, he has a winner's mentality.
This is great for either the Wizards or the Cavs being that they are trying to build successful franchises from the bottom up.
The Cavs already have an elite basketball player in guard Kyrie Irving.
If the Cavaliers play their cards right, they can get great players and build for a better tomorrow.
Another option for the Cavs would be pure shooter Harrison Barnes who averaged 17.1 points a game as a Tar Heel last season.
He would prove more dangerous because Irving could have a lethal shooter to hand the ball off to when he gets into trouble.
The Cavaliers also have a 24th pick, which might go to Festus Ezeli who played in Vanderbilt. He plays center and is 6' 11."
This means Cleveland could have a driver and dribbler, a shooter and a rebounder/blocker down low.
Teams have been straying away from the traditional dominant big man down low, but when guys like Dwight Howard or Andrew Bynum square up, they tend to change the trajectory of many balls.
The Cavaliers might be set up to have a very successful 2012 draft.
