MLB Round Up: Clemens Acquitted, Hill Hits Cycle, Yankees Win 10th Consecutive Game

Jun 19, 2012 10:42 AM EDT

Before we get into the action on the field, there was plenty of action in the courtroom where Roger Clemen's decision was reached.

Clemens was not guilty on all six charges.

A trial that was based on Clemens telling congress that he had not taken steroids in 2008, cost taxpayers around $2-3 million.

The charges included three accounts of false statement, two of perjury and one of obstruction.

Though Clemens has been served justice and walked free.  Thoughts of his relationship to steroids are still looming and could possibly blemish his great numbers forever.

Yankees Win 10th Consecutive

C.C. Sabathia went the distance, pitching 9 innings, allowing just 2 ER while striking out 10 against the Atlanta Braves Monday night in Yankee Stadium.

This is the fourth straight game the Yankees have taken from the Braves. Good for their 10th consecutive victory.

The Yankees have enjoyed defeating the "tough" teams in the NL East. They swept the Mets then the Braves and just finished off the first place Washington Nationals.

Dickey Keeps Rolling

Just when everybody thought R.A. Dickey could not get any better, he proved that he is the best pitcher in the Majors. The knuckleballer threw a complete game and only allowed a hit.

For the second straight start Dickey was able to accomplish this task.

He has done it against two of the toughest teams in the AL East. The second place, 12-games over .500, Baltimore Orioles and the Tampa Bay Rays.

The last time Dickey gave up an earned run was against the Pittsburgh Pirates on May 22nd. Five starts later the league has yet to figure him out.

Dickey is on an unstoppable pace. He deserves to be the National League starter in the All-Star game.

Aaron Hill has One of Everything

Aaron Hill will probably not be allowed to eat any Arizona buffets for a while as he feasted on Seattle Mariners pitching and hit for a cycle.

He had a single in the first, a triple in the third, a double in the fifth and a homer in the 7th.

Hill is the most recent player to hit for the cycle as Scott Hairston of the Mets accomplished the feat back on April 27th of this year.

The last Diamondback to do it was Kelly Johnson in 2010.
